| Four classmates came to Vantage point to meet with Cici Ruebig, one of three foreign exchange students in the class. After talks of our families, occupations, and interests, thoughts turned to the fast approaching 50th anniversary of the class of 1963. It's amazing how fast the time is passing. All thought that it is important to begin seeking feedback, begin planning, and making reservations for the various locations and services that will be needed. Please pass along your comments to anyone on the planning committee. Look for another impromptu coffee clutch meeting. Maybe we can get some prior committee members to attend. Again if anyone wants suggest a time and place, let me know. I will get the word out as best I can. | |||

| The attendance was pretty GOOD. You missed seeing Judi Payton-Brackenbury, Laura Marlette-Huebner, JoAnne King-Westrick, Carl
Shoenberg, Rick Heering, Charlie Winters, Caryl Atfield-Butler and husband Larry, myself and wife Sue. Of coarse there was plenty of
talk about high and junior high school and persons we knew but no longer in touch. On the bigger note, there was discussion about our
next reunion. All of us are looking forward to a spectacular event. Along that subject I participated in the early planning stages of
the recent Class of '61 50th reunion. John Chidister and his team of volunteers did a outstanding job. Both Judi and Rick attended the
reunion. Both brought the classmate booklet. Judi also brought along her necklace and name tag, commemorative coffee cup, chocolate, and
another document. I must admit that I failed to pay close attention to it but suspect it was an agenda for the reunion dinner. You can
see a photo of the items by following the Album 12 link
below. The Class of '61 choose the Edison Inn to host their event. We all agreed that it was good to have the event where classmates
could stay, continue parties, freshen up when needed, plan daily activities, etc. It is thought that doing so might attract guest from
further distances. An interesting note is that the Class of '61 had several volunteer events, that each classmate/spouse could choose to
participate in. These activities were billed for separately, giving the attendees an option to participate or not, considering their
budget and interest needs. I believe activities include a golf outing, luncheon at the golf club, town tours, high school tour, cruise
on the Huron Lady, Party at the Port Huron Yacht Club to name a few. The Class of '61 found sponsors for their Classmate book that made
a professional looking document. The also had benefactors that donated money for those strapped for cash to attend the reunion. The Coffee
Clutch talked over location possibilities and it was pretty much agreed that the 50th had some significant and that another location
would be a wise choice. Another thought for keeping the costs down was a cash bar.
More photos available, click here: Album 12 If anyone is interested in another meeting, let me know I will pass the word. Maybe you would welcome a group of classmates into your home, office space, or another location. You name it, I will pass the word in email and web page. Incidentally, if you have the email address of other classmates, I would welcome them. I keep them strictly confidential and only share with confirmation from each student. If you have any comments, I could post them as well.

| The attendance was small, but fun none the less. Caryl Atfield-Butler and husband Larry, Dorothy Newman-Smith, Marilyn Wirsing-Kuehn, Len Patterson and wife Sue met in the steamy room of Vantage point. Although the view was great of the icy river, the sun heated the area to near sauna conditions. The staff at Vantage Point was gracious in adjusting the air conditioner, but we found little comfort in our area. Our discussion covered more about how unknowingly we were related, either by blood or by marriage. We talked of past reunions, looked at the web page (taking advantage of their free wireless) and reunion photos. We need to seek out other photos, handbooks, Lighthouse newspapers, etc. to support the 50th calibration. If you have any materials that I can use, please contact me. I will copy and return all materials in original condition. For our next casual meeting we hope to get Sharon Siebert-Whiting and husband John to attend. We hope to see of you there. | |||

| Spouses Larry Butler, Ron Pratt, and Sue Patterson are to be commended as they accompanied their spouses at the Marysville Tim Horton's.
We had an enjoyable lunch while sharing pictures and stories. I will be posting the new photos soon on the web page. One thing that Caryl suggested was to consider having the 50th reunion at the Sea Way Terminal. We all thought that a change would be nice. The Sea Way Terminal has some nice benefits, view, parking, etc. I have got to say this should be kept in mind when the real committee begins to gather. What are your thoughts? Drop us a line. We haven't set a time or place for another meeting, but if anyone has a suggestion... let us know. Winter is coming and many locals will be heading south. Keep us in your thoughts while we sit in the snow.
